This course is a Department of Motor Vehicle mandated course for all New York State permit holders. At the completion of the course you will be given a Pre-Licensing Course Certificate (MV-278) which you will use to sign up for the NYS DMV road test.

Lessons are fifty minutes in duration and we will work very hard to set up a driving schedule that will work for you. We offer free door to door pickup in the Syracuse and Cortland areas and when ready we will also make the road test appointment for you again, free of charge.

As we all know the highway is a feared aspect of everyday driving for all skill levels. Let Able 2 Driving School set aside those fears by offering a comprehensive driving lesson specifically focused on the highway. This lesson involves merging into highway traffic, lane changes at highway speeds and exiting the highway. This fifty minute lesson will provide the skills necessary to feel confident in highway traffic.

This course is a Point and Insurance Reduction Program (PIRP) approved by the Department of Motor Vehicle and is sponsored by the Empire Safety Council. Successful completion of this course will result in a reduction of up to four points on your driving record as well as the principal operator of the motor vehicle receiving a minimum 10% reduction in the base rate of their automobile insurance.

Successful completion of this program allows student who are 17 years of age to receive their "blue card" which is necessary to drive alone before after 9:00 PM and before 5:00 AM. This course features 24 hours of classroom instruction with 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction and 18 hours of observation. Able 2 Driving School provides the in-car portion of these courses at numerous locations mulitiple timews thoughout the year.

Able 2 Driving School offers the medical and competency evaluation to help determine if a driver is proficient enough to drive safely on the roads today. This is not a NYS DMV road test however this evaulation can help the driver, family, or doctor determine whether a driver should continue to drive.
